Project: Parklets: a human scale environment for engagement
Role: Workshop facilitation
Client: Auckland Transport
The focus of this project was on capacity building community and school engagement by modelling human scale and effectiveness of parklets as a tool for engagement and possibly behaviour change. The purpose was to model founding principles in tactical urbansim so that attendees had a multiple sensory understanding of simpler construction solutions with less reliance on complex tech and heavy engineering.
The workshop intended to model co-design that promotes active mobility and flexible human scale design and execution. Teams representing the four cardinal points of Auckland crafted site map solutions for four schools in each region. Instructions were modified to cater a response to diverse skill levels of attendees to collate teams to create inclusive and varied outcomes.
Testimonial:
“Boopise Maran trained our Community Transport team in how to deliver a parklet. Boopsie delivered it in a very clear and useable way, we as a team have decided to incorporate into our usual business. Her knowledge of behaviour change and teaching background was very valuable to our team.”
